Child and youth population are approximately 24% of the total population in the municipality. The municipality seat is in Storuman. Tärnaby, a small village in the municipality, is known for fostering the internationally famous alpine skiers Ingemar Stenmark, Stig Strand and Anja Pärson.

The Leisure department of Storuman municipality has, due to the ongoing pandemic (Covid-19) developed and started digital ways of communication. This has mainly been done by casting web shows on a YouTube channel. The main purpose of these digital shows is to distribute information to the young inhabitants in the municipality. The content in these web shows is very flexible and can be for example quizzes and competitions or performances of local artists. These web shows have been very appreciated and followed by not only the target group (young people).
