Rana kommune

Rana is a municipality in Nordland county with a population of app. 26 000. It is part of the Helgeland traditional region. The administrative centre is the town of Mo i Rana with app. 22 000 inhabitants. The 4,460-square-kilometre municipality is the 4th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. The municipality’s population density is 6.2 inhabitants per square kilometre. The municipality and the region as a whole are home to a diverse range of businesses. The municipality of Rana kommune is hosting a youth council, two youth clubs and a youth cultural centre. There are also counselling services for youth with health or social challenges.

From Rana kommune there will be participants from the Youth council and the municipal section “Fritidstjenesten”. The youth council consists of 12 engaged and active young people. They represent the young generation in Rana kommune and get their mandate by elections. Their task is to provide open, free, social and including meeting places and activities within the budget provided. Their goal is to give the youth a meaningful leisure time, secure young participation and cultural activities.
